Of Awards and Glories

Six years ago, when our journey began with a few schools in Goripalya, it was only with the hope to see our vision to see every child, no matter where they came from, receive quality education. Today, while we stand as the proud recipient of a State Award, we not only see this vision taking shape; we’re also reminded of how rewarding this commitment is.

The Department of Public Instruction, Government of Karnataka and the Zila Panchayath, Bangalore Urban, in association with Careworks organized an event for CSRs and NGOs working across Bangalore city for implementing the Shaalegaagi Naavu Neevu initiative.  This platform was set for recognition and felicitation of the NGOs and CSRs which have done tremendously well in uplifting schools across various educational blocks in the state.

Representatives and Block Education Officers [BEOs] from 10 blocks assembled at the occasion. Each BEO spoke about the NGOs working in the schools in their respective blocks recognizing the initiatives and methods taken up by these NGOs.

Our stakeholder Mr. KC Ramesh, BEO, Anekal took an extra effort to endorse the uniqueness of Mantra.

“The Cluster approach taken up by Mantra4Change has led to the strengthening of Cluster Resource Centers (CRCs) which are crucial to Government Schools, many of which weren’t being effectively used to the maximum before. Now these CRCs have become training centres for Cluster Resource Persons (CRPs), while teachers also make use of the space for various administrative purposes, to share their experiences and learn from each other,” said Mr. Ramesh.

“The uniqueness of the Project for Active Cluster Engagement (PACE) is in its commitment to working with not just one but an entire cluster of schools [each educational cluster comprises of 10-15 government-run schools] at once,” he added.

It’s needless to say how great an honor it was to be recognized and felicitated by the government and being nominated by the stakeholders we work with such as the BEO and the CRP endorsing us.

This forum set by the Government of Karnataka acted as an interactive forum between NGOs working in different domains of education such as social-emotional well being, whole school transformation and much more.

Filled with gratitude and aspirations, our dream to enable schools and transform education gets a huge boost because of the support and belief our stakeholders pool into our efforts.
